What time is it?
Over the past three months, I finished my Peace Corps service in Uganda, moved back to America, and shortly after left America to move to Bolivia. It has been a such a whirlwind; all of these transitions have led me to explore how we understand time. While I am in the process of writing about my time in Bolivia, please enjoy some of my mind's more creative endeavors to break down the concept of time.
When is Life...?
Time travel
is
not theoretical.
We do it
every
waking moment.
Turn around
and
remember lessons found.
Look ahead
forget
what happened instead.
It is now
not
“then” or “when” anyhow.
All objects
are
memories it reflects.
Everything
decides
to blossom in spring.
Stay focused
live
in the moment fullest.
Reminisce
on
celebrations and stress.
What’s to come
is
customized illusion.
Current time
exists
outside of the mind.
Say “goodbye”
the
earnestly truthful lie.
Life’s play dough –
the
day after tomorrow.
Seize the day,
the
flowing mighty segue.
In the past
life’s
maintained to ever last.
The future,
a
buried secret treasure.
This present
is
over in an instant.
Paradox:
all
of time is empty clocks.
We lead lives
in
any way but clockwise.
The Butterfly
The butterfly,
at first a caterpillar,
experiences metamorphosis
and simultaneously lives
in both past and future.
Its former self
personally greets the new
in a private sanctuary.
Is not the present a cocoon
created for past to become future?
